The Blue Project is a social initiative aimed at removing barriers to access potable water for individuals from underserved communities in Mumbai. Informed by the mission to work towards empowering underserved communities by providing locally-led, sustainable drinking water solutions, The Blue Project firmly believes that water is a basic human right, one that each of us has an ethical obligation to ensure for all.
By a combination of awareness and advocacy, we seek to work with students from underserved communities to teach them about foundational concepts of sustainability to help them embrace sustainable practices. This includes the creation of original knowledge resources, such as handbooks and activity books, apart from the organization of interactive workshops to facilitate learning in this direction. Additionally, by way of raising capital from public fundraisers, we intend to distribute water purifiers to students from underserved communities to ensure that they have continuous access to potable water in their homes. Ultimately, with scientific innovation and awareness generation, The Blue Project hopes to be a true blue testament to the changes that can be brought about by passionate and scientifically minded members of civil society.
